Taking Back Sunday - “New Again” - Album Review

band - Taking Back Sunday
    Band:  Taking Back Sunday
    Album:  New Again

In an interview leading up to the release of “New Again”, Taking Back Sunday’s bassist Matt Rubano said “…there’s stuff on this record I think in the past we would have stayed away from.”  This statement has an unintended double meaning. In context, it is meant to reference how the band has grown and pushed themselves further with this album, but as a long time fan who is already slightly pessimistic about the release, the statement makes it seem like they are scraping

There is a noticeable difference between someone who puts in just enough effort to get by and someone who focuses on reaching perfection. There is a special degree of respect due when someone is able to dedicate that much effort to their craft. It is like a fine wine or an aged scotch. Every detail of the process to produce a bottle of Chivas Regal is managed to perfection and is revered for this dedication to quality. This is “Veckatimest”.

CKY attempts to buck this trend. The group gained fame by appearing in the “CKY” video series, a series of skate and stunt videos that pre-date “Jackass”.

White Rabbits - “It’s Frightening” - Album Review

band - White Rabbits
    Band:  White Rabbits
    Album:  It's Frightening

Let’s say the year is 1998. Radiohead has just returned from touring behind their album “OK Computer”.  In this alternate 1998, a bizarro Radiohead decides they need to rediscover themselves, much like the real Radiohead. Except this time their soul searching results in the band saying “Fuck it. Why are we taking our music so seriously, lets do something a little more fun.” Instead of going electronic like they did on “Kid A”, they opt for more acoustic sounds and instruments.

Gallows - “Grey Britain” - Album Review

band - Gallows
    Band:  Gallows

“Britain is Fucked.”

Or so says lead singer of Gallows, Frank Carter. This blunt statement was made in reference to concept behind Gallows’ latest album “Grey Britain”, how Carter and the rest of Gallows see England progressing. Needless to say, they are not impressed.

“Grey Britain” is a raucous album, full of rage, hatred and
