Weekly News Wrap-Up - It’s Hard Out There for a Pirate

You may remember the Pirate Bay founders attempting to get a mistrial based on the judge’s bias. Well, the judge has been deemed Ok and the verdict will stand, at least until they can find some other loop hole. (aversion.com)

You may remember Jammie Thomas-Rasset, the Minnesota mother who was fined $222,000 for file sharing in 2007. The trial verdict was thrown out shortly after that verdict because of improper jury instructions. The case was re-tried and she lost… big time. The second time around she received a fine of $1.92 million. This works out to $80,000 a song.(rollingstone.com)

If I knew all it took to get Trent Reznor to stop playing shows was make fun of him online, I would have started ages ago. But seriously, Trent Reznor claims the show at Bonaroo will be his last in the US. He has also stated his Twittering will stop as well. (aversion.com)

The guitar world has lost one of its greats. Bob Bogle, the guitarist for The Ventures, lost his battle with lymphoma. Bogle is best known as the originator of the surf style of guitar, playing on songs like “Wipeout”, “Secret Agent Man”, and “Tequila”. (rollingstone.com)

A close second to a Rage Against the Machine reunion would be an At the Drive-in reunion. As it seems the Rage reunion is getting further and further away, the At the Drive-in on could be a step closer this week. Lead singer Cedric Bixler-Zavala has stated in recent interviews the band has been talking again and hinted at the chance of a reunion. (rollingstone.com)
