There is next to nothing out this week. Last week was such a good week too. There were soooo may new releases last week. Can you believe Los Lonely Boys have a greatest hits album? … They have hits (plural)? Good thing at least Wilco released something to save me from talking about LLB.

It is a sad day for music. The king of pop was unfortunately lost to a cardiac arrest on June 25, 2009. I’m not sure anything I could say would give him the dues he deserves, so I’ll leave it as a moment silence. (cnn.com)

Band:	Alexisonfire
Album:	Old Crows/Young C…

Alexisonfire doesn’t really adhere to the archetypal standard of what pop music should be. Despite this they have been at the top of the Canadian charts for almost 8 years, having garnered fans in both traditional metal/punk circles as well as the all important 14-year-old-girl-pop-music-lover camp. It’s a pretty strange thing to have seen happen.

This week is the complete opposite of last week.  We could barely scrape together a list of albums to look out for last week, but this week the list is busting at the seams.  There are a number of strong releases from some long standing artists, including Dinosaur Jr., The Mars Volta, and Alexisonfire among others.
