Weekly News Wrap-Up - Suing Coldplay is the New Black

We all know Blink 182 are back together and planning to tour, but the band has also started working on new music. Although they are working on new music, who knows whether anything will come of it. The band has stated that rehearsing for the tour is their priority. (aversion.com)

You may remember a little incident at the Super Bowl involving a wardrobe malfunction and a nipple being shown on live television. This resulted in a fine of more than half a million dollars against CBS, which was later removed when CBS appealed the decision. Why does that matter? Because this week, the Supreme Court asked the appeals court to consider reinstating the fine. (rollingstone.com)

Everyone is coming out of the wood works to sue Coldplay. First, Joe Satriani made the claim that his song “If I Could Fly” was ripped off by Coldplay (listen to a comparison of the two songs here), and now Cat Stevens is joining the party. Yusuf, as he is currently known, claims that his track “Foreign Suite” was the basis of the melody in “Viva La Vida”. It just so happens he has a new album coming out, I don’t believe it is a coincidence. (rollingstone.com)

This Week in Videos:
The Streets - “He’s Behind You, He’s Got Swine Flu”
There is nothing like capitalizing on a fad, even if it is a disease. The video is quite funny when accompanied by the track, comparing people afflicted with swine flu to zombies.

Silversun Pickups - “Panic Switch”
This is the newest video from the band Silversun Pickups. Perhaps best known for the track “Lazy Eye”, “Panic Switch” follows pretty closely with their sound. It’s a pretty good song with a nearly seizure inducing video.

Jason Lytle - “I am Lost”
If you ever wanted a video that is as frustrating as Radiohead’s “Just” video, here it is. Although the track is no “Just” it holds its own and fits the mood of this frustratingly good video.
