Albums of the Week - What Would Jesus Wear?
I am as shocked as you are. Maybe I am having a weak moment, but nearly everything I listen to this week seems worthy of the “Albums of the Week” list. There is a lot of good music out this week from a wide variety of artists. Give a listen to some of the ones listed, you’ll be glad you did.
Most Anticipated:
The Chariot - “Wars, and Rumors of Wars”
If the vocals from The Chariot sound familiar, its because they are, at least for fans of Norma Jean. Josh Scogin, the former frontman of Norma Jean fronts The Chariot and you can expect, from both him and the group, an album along the lines of “The Fiancee”.
The Devil Wears Prada - “With Roots Above and Branches Below”
Another great release from a “Christian” metal band (The Chariot is also considered Christian), but don’t let that sway you. As Stan wrote in the past “Christian” music has really grown and doesn’t seem to be slowing down. Any fans of TDWP know they rock just as hard as any metal band around.
Other Releases to Look Out For:
Gallows - “Grey Britain”
Conor Oberst And The Mystic Valley Band - “Outer South”
Closure in Moscow - “First Temple”
St. Vincent - “Actor”
The Drawing Room - “The Drawing Room”
Zao - “Awake?”
The Dangerous Summer - “Reach for the Sun”
Autumn Hour - “Dethroned”
The Horrors - “Primary Colors”
Living With Lions - “Make Your Mark”
British Sea Power - “The Man of Aran”
Albums I Hate to Admit Might Be Good:
Karate High School - “Invaders”
Although Karate High School lean more towards pop-punk than actual punk, they are far enough away from Fall Out Boy that your friends won’t break your balls for listening to them.
