Bio:
Cape Breton Island’s best kept secret is about to explode! This “Wonder To Behold” has recorded a debut. Working with Warren Bruleigh (Lou reed, The Pixies), Darren Gallop (Tom Fun,Slowcoaster), and Grammy winner Jesse Harris (Norah Jones, Bright eyes) her & her band are on their way to Rock your world.
Interview:
Q: What genre of music would you describe yours as?
A: Definitely rock.
Q: What inspired you to write the songs that you did?
A: I can’t really say what inspires me to write them or where they come from. They’re just there… just feelings amplified. I don’t like to dissect my songs. They just happen… some seem to fall out of the sky, others take a while to evolve.
Q: What was it like recording an album with no label support?
A: It was great… though trying at times. I do not come from money. The worst thing about it I guess is the fact that I still have a full time job as a teacher’s assistant. (don’t get me wrong I love my day job the kids are my superheroes) but I am anxious for the day where all I have to do is play music to survive. We had a lot of decisions to make… we actually turned down a FACTOR grant to record where we wanted to record (it was an amazing deal… studio and accommodations! It was a lovely time). So we were in charge. We just got some crazy news yesterday… but you’ll have to wait! haha.
Q: What are your touring plans?
A: Once the album is done I want to see the world. We’ve already made some great connections in New York, Australia, Belgium… but there is that ancient hippy soul in me that needs to go to California… cheesy I know… but I’ve always wanted to go.
Q: What is your feeling on the state of Canadian music?
A: I think we have the best of everything in Canada.
Q: What are your goals with this release?
A: To see the world and live a comfortable, happy, exuberant life playing music with my friends.
