Burlington, Ontario’s Silverstein are named after famous children’s author Shel Silverstein, and, in truth, have more in common with the author then most might think. Shel tried to make children’s literature more mature and introduce subjects beyond “see Spot run” or “the kitty got stuck in the tree.” Similarly Silverstein (the band) are trying to make a play to get their music out to a slightly more mature audience then before. Album:	The Hazards of Love

Portland, Oregon’s The Decemberists are a band with a fairly rabid following. This is owing, not only, to their long history and 5 full length albums, but also their long-standing onscreen feud with Stephen Colbert of “The Colbert Report” fame. The feud coincided with the release of “The Crane Wife”, The Decemberists’ break through album. Although a critical success, The Decemberists didn’t achieve much popular support.
