Playlist

I was recently listening to a podcast from NPR. They actually take their radio broadcast for “All Songs Considered” and make them available. I only recently came across the podcast but have been addicted lately, going back and listening to all their old podcasts. It is great to listen to at work.

Recently I was listening to an episode titled, “The 1980s: Were They Really That Bad?”. In the episode, the host Bob Boilen made a good point. He stated that it wasn’t necessarily the songs that were the problem and referenced a particular cover of a song from the 80’s by Doveman that is actually much better than the original. That got me thinking of other good covers of songs from the 80’s. This playlist is dedicated to the group over at NPR.

Doveman - “Let’s Hear it for the Boys” (Denise Williams Cover)
Reel Big Fish - “Take on Me” (A-ha Cover)
Hidden in Plain View - “I Ran (So Far Away)” (A Flock of Seagulls Cover)
The Early November - “The Power of Love” (Huey Lewis and the News Cover)
Gary Jules - “Mad World” (Tears for Fears Cover)
